Message from the 2nd Canadian Division Command Team

As you all know, Chief Warrant Officer Garand and I place a great deal of importance on maintaining an inclusive workplace that is respectful of all its members and free from discrimination. We are proud of the progress in inclusion and respect for diversity that has been made in our organization in recent years.

On May 17, for the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, we invite you to join us and continue to show your support for the principles of equality and dignity by participating in large numbers in a very unique flag ceremony during which the rainbow flag, a symbol of diversity and community LGTBQ2 +, will be hoisted on our garrisons in Montreal, Saint Jean and Valcartier.

We strongly believe that diversity equals strength and plays a crucial role in the development, growth and success of our organization. Experience has shown us that diversity increases our operational efficiency by enabling everyone to contribute to the fulfillment of our mandates, at home and abroad.
Raising the rainbow flag at our garrisons will concretely testify to our support for the homosexual, bisexual, transsexual, queer, two-spirit (aboriginal) and intersex community that identifies with it and our determination to ensure that all military members and civilian employees are valued and feel part of the Defense Team.

We take this opportunity to highlight the undeniable contribution and the tremendous work done by the D + (Diversity +) team, a diversity committee made up of military and civilian members of the 2nd Canadian Division and Joint Task Force (East). For more than two years now, this committee has been supporting the division's command team with a great deal of effort to inform and educate members about the principles of diversity and the well-being of everyone at work.
Be allies of diversity and inclusion by participating with us in the symbolic ceremony that will take place at our garrisons on May 17.

Let's join forces. Demonstrate our esprit de corps. Let's be proud of the richness of our diversity.

Brigadier-General Hercule Gosselin
Chief Warrant Officer Terry Garand.
